I’ve lived in Milwaukee for the past three years and absolutely love it. You get a small-town city feel with no traffic and awesome local shops. Milwaukee is home to many locally owned shops and brewery’s, which often goes unnoticed. It’s definitely the next up and coming city and its just a few hours north of Chicago. After living here for three years and counting, I’ve found some of the best places to eat in Milwaukee and will continue to grow this list as long as I live here.
Food to me wherever I go is always important. I’ve curated this list from my experience living in Milwaukee and wanted to share with you the very best of Milwaukee. Here’s a few of the best places to eat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin:
The Milwaukee Public Market is a must-see when visiting Milwaukee. It’s located in the popular Third Ward, which is full of locally owned stores and restaurants. The public market is a place full of several different restaurants that serves a variety of different foods. It’s a great place to go if you have a big group of people that can’t decide on one thing. I absolutely love the seafood and Mexican food here! To die for!!
The best ribs and brisket in town also located in the Third Ward. If you’re looking for some bomb ass barbecue brisket then this is the place to be. There’s usually always a wait so be ready for that, but it’s totally worth it!!
Wisconsin is known for its bratwursts, so if you’re in Milwaukee then you’ll definitely need to check it out. Milwaukee Brat House is right on Old World 3rd Street, which is full of bars a social life. If you go here, try their cheese curds too which Wisconsin is also known for!!
Also located in the popular Third Ward area kiddie corner to the Public Market. The Wicked Hop is locally owned and known for their burgers! If you’re looking for a good burger then this is definitely the place to go! If you’re here for breakfast, try one of the Bloody Mary’s, so so good!
A popular coffee chain in Milwaukee and definitely something to try while you’re in town. They serve awesome early morning drinks and fast breakfast to take on the go.
The Safehouse is a super cool and fun restaurant / bar. The restaurant is spy themed and you need to go on a “mission” to figure out the passcode to enter. It’s a fun way to keep your kids engaged in the afternoon or to try when you’re drunk late at night!
Known for their breakfast and also located in the popular Third Ward. The restaurant has a beautiful rooftop which is perfect to sit on a really nice Milwaukee morning. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for some good breakfast!
A popular Milwaukee chain that specializes in burgers. I definitely suggest going here if you’re looking for a delicious burger!
Bel Air is a Mexican fusion restaurant known to be a blend between Mexican tacos and California food truck tacos. They have unique types of tacos that are absolutely delicious.
Vagabond is food truck style, Mexican restaurant with an awesome interior! Similar to Bel Air, it serves amazing tacos and margaritas! My favorite part about Vagabond is its interior that’s painted with amazing art and outdoor junk yard vibe.
The burger and custard heaven of Milwaukee. Kopps is known for its super cheap, but delicious burgers and amazing frozen custard! I definitely recommend checking out Kopps to satisfy your sweet tooth!
So there you have it. A list of some of the best places to eat in Milwaukee. Milwaukee will always have a special place in my heart and I’m glad I could share some of my favorite things.
