Looking for the best honeymoon destinations? You’re in the right place. Here are 10 honeymoon destinations that actually deliver, from budget-friendly to a couple of genuine splurges, ranked with real travel experience behind them, not just a roundup pulled from other roundups.

My partner and I aren’t married yet (we’re getting there), but seven years in and both running our businesses remotely, we’ve had our fair share of romantic getaways together. I’ve also spent close to a decade living in Thailand and years traveling through Bali, the Philippines, and Vietnam, the exact places that keep topping the real 2026 honeymoon rankings. So consider this the list from someone who knows what these places actually cost and feel like day to day, not just what looks good in a resort brochure, honeymoon or not.

This post is all about the best honeymoon destinations.

The Best Honeymoon Destinations (in no particular order):

1. Bali, Indonesia

Bali is Tripadvisor’s actual #1 honeymoon destination for 2026, and having traveled through it myself, that ranking checks out. Rice terraces, beach clubs, and jungle villas all within an hour of each other, and a cost of living that means a genuinely luxurious-feeling week doesn’t require a luxury budget. Ubud for the jungle-and-wellness version, Uluwatu or Canggu if you want beach and nightlife instead.

2. Thailand

Koh Samui tops several editors’ 2026-27 honeymoon lists outright, and it’s easy to see why once you’ve spent real time in this country. I’ve lived in Thailand for nearly a decade, and while my day-to-day is Chiang Mai, the islands are where I send anyone planning a honeymoon: white sand, warm water, and a level of affordability that lets you stretch a week into two without stretching your budget the same way.

3. The Philippines

Palawan (El Nido specifically) is one of the most genuinely underrated honeymoon spots on this entire list. Lagoons, limestone cliffs, and island-hopping that looks like a screensaver, all at a cost of living that makes a two-week trip realistic on a budget that wouldn’t cover a week somewhere more famous.

4. Maldives

The Maldives is the classic luxury honeymoon pick for a reason: overwater bungalows, seaplane arrivals, and water so clear it looks edited. It’s genuinely one of the pricier destinations on this list, so it’s the one to save for if a splurge honeymoon is the goal rather than a budget one.

5. Santorini, Greece

Santorini’s white-and-blue cliffside towns are honeymoon-photo shorthand at this point, and for good reason, the sunsets over the caldera are as good as the internet says. It runs pricier than Southeast Asia but stays more reasonable than the Maldives, a solid middle ground if you want the iconic look without the most extreme price tag.

6. Italy

I studied abroad in Rome and have spent real time on the Cinque Terre coastline since, and either gives you a honeymoon that feels like a movie without needing Santorini-level spending. The Amalfi Coast is the more classic honeymoon pick if you want cliffside towns and boat days, while Cinque Terre is the quieter, less-discovered version of the same idea.

7. Iceland

Iceland is the pick if a poolside honeymoon isn’t the vibe, glaciers, waterfalls, and black sand beaches instead of a beach chair. I’ve spent time in Reykjavik myself, and it’s a genuinely unique honeymoon destination that also happens to be more affordable than people assume, especially outside peak summer.

8. Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia has won World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination at the World Travel Awards seven years running, which is a hard record to argue with. The Pitons (twin volcanic peaks rising straight out of the Caribbean Sea) give it a dramatic backdrop most Caribbean islands can’t match.

9. Vietnam

Vietnam doesn’t make most honeymoon lists, which is exactly the opportunity. I’ve traveled through Vietnam extensively, and Ha Long Bay’s limestone karsts rising out of the water genuinely rival anything in the Maldives or Santorini for a fraction of the cost, especially on an overnight boat stay.

10. Riviera Maya, Mexico

Riviera Maya is one of the trending honeymoon picks for 2026, short flights from most of the US, cenotes (natural swimming holes) worth a full day trip, and an all-inclusive resort market that bundles almost everything into one price. It’s the easiest logistics on this entire list if a low-effort, high-relaxation honeymoon is the actual goal.

Best Honeymoon Destinations: FAQ

What’s the best honeymoon destination overall? Bali, currently. It’s Tripadvisor’s actual #1 pick for 2026, and it delivers on variety, jungle, beach, culture, at a cost of living that keeps a two-week trip realistic.

What’s the best honeymoon destination on a budget? The Philippines and Vietnam are the strongest budget picks on this list, genuinely stunning scenery at a fraction of what Santorini or the Maldives cost for the same length of trip.

What’s a unique or adventurous honeymoon destination? Iceland. Glaciers and waterfalls instead of a beach chair, and it’s more affordable than most people assume once you’re outside peak summer.

Is Bali or Thailand better for a honeymoon? Both rank at the top of real 2026 lists for good reason. Bali edges it for variety in a smaller area, Thailand’s islands edge it for value and ease of getting around.

How long should a honeymoon actually be? The trending answer for 2026 is longer than you’d think, two to three weeks in one region instead of hopping between several. It’s also the more budget-friendly approach: fewer flights, and you settle into local prices instead of paying tourist rates the whole way through.
