What We Can Learn from Influencer Marketing to Help Market Your Blog
In this day in age, we can learn a lot of social media influencers across many different niches. I have grown up with a generation of influencers and have friends that are known influencers. As a millennial I have noticed a difference between really good influencers and mediocre influencers. I wanted to create this post to discuss what I have learned from influencer marketing to help transform and market your blog. It’s some of the key aspects that I also look at when marketing and creating content for my own blog.
Authenticity is Key
One of the main things I’ve found in really successful influencers is that authenticity is key. You won’t be able to market your blog if you don’t really believe in what you are writing about or selling. Readers can definitely read between the lines that the person behind the screen is authentic or not.
When writing blog posts, you’ll want to be authentic. You want to crack a few jokes (if that’s the type of personality you have) or use the lingo that you’d use when talking to your friends. No one wants to read an essay type blog post, with words that sound way too intelligent. Make every single one of your blog posts authentically you and don’t change because of some blogger stigma that might exist. BE YOU!
ROI is Critical
Return on Investment while marketing your blog is critical to being successful. This doesn’t have to mean instant cash flow, especially for starting blogs. But, it includes a consistent metric that will allow you to track your growth. This includes things such as a consistent increase in readers to your blog, followers to your instagram, and the amount of clicks with each clickable link.
You’ll also want an ROI that is sustainable. If one day you have 1000 clicks and the next couples days you have 5, then you’ll need to dissect the day you got 100 clicks. You’ll want to read on every topic that will allow you to track your ROI and have advanced metrics to help you.
Trendsetters
Pretty much all successful influencers are trendsetters. Something we can learn from influencers is that it is ok to be different. Rather, it’s even better to be different because there’s so many bloggers out there trying to do the same thing. If you offer something completely different than what other blogs do, then readers will be attracted to that!!
In order to successfully market your blog you’ll need to be okay with being different. Try something new and write about it. Travel to a place tourists don’t know about it. Buy something super obscure and write a review about it. Whatever niche you want to market your blog as, you’ll want to make it unique. You’ll want to be a trendsetter.
Remain Portable & Adapt Early
Successful influencers remain portable and are early adaptors. Many successful influencers change their surroundings on a weekly basis, whether the are traveling or going on business trips, they must remain portable. This is why having a blog is awesome because it allows you to be portable!!
Successful influencers are also early adaptors. They’ll try out new ways of marketing even if there’s a chance it’ll be unsuccessful. If there’s a new medium to help market their blog, they’ll usually be the first to test it out. It’s ok to test something out and fail. But if you don’t try something new, you’ll never know.
And there you have it: a list of things I have learned from influencer marketing to help market my blog. As a 20 y/o blogger that had the opportunity to grow up with technology, I can really visualize and notice the differences in different social media platforms. I have grown up with and have seen the advancements all the way from MySpace to Tumblr to Facebook etc and have seen influencers across those different platforms.
I hope what I’ve learned from influencer marketing will help you market your blog successfully and I wish you the best of luck!! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the next blog post!
